Centaur Girl - makeover by mijka Centaur Girl - makeover by mijka
Again, old art. Actually, the lineart itself is a remake of lineart that was a remake of lineart that filled my notebooks senior year in highschool. I had this really nifty centaur concept thing going on in my brain. They were all over the place, 'till X-Mas '98, when I finally drew them out. This is her original final draft: [link] (yes, to my eternal shame, I'm now admitting to actually having an elfwood page -___-;) Then I redid HER a few years later. Surprisingly, I can't find the original colors of this version. I was so sure they were out there... enh. Anyway, I got fed up. I really wanna color something of my own, even though I haven't been drawing of late. SO, since the original colors on these lines sucked (some of the first I did with the graphire.........) I decided to redo her, last night. The original lineart had her standing in front of a tent that couldn't stand up to serious scrutiny. That bg kinda sucked, to be honest.

She got a makeover.

Whattayathink?

(Painter7 under 2B pencil)

EDIT: Someone stupid (i.e. ME) u/led the wrong version of this pic. *sigh* - corrected, I hope.

Its been a long time since I have been on deviant art, almost 186 weeks since I signed in, but I got the urge.
I was looking through my past favorites and I found Anjel - Color - No lines.
So I decided to come and look through your gallery again and this caught my eye right away, you are a very talented artist, as I remembered. :+fav: :)

Love the texture you used, especially on the sky ;)

It's not actually a texture, per say. I used the fine-tip ink tool in painter on a screen layer and just drew whatever came to mind. (I guess you could call it a hand drawn pattern layer, though...)

Everything else is either painted in or hand drawn with a pencil.

Thanks for the positivity, though :)

Yes I saw it was hand paint but in french the word which came to me is "texture". I like like the sky, so ;)

I dig the linework in the sky, much much. It's very inspiring.

I really want to pet her mane. It's gorgeous -- especially the colors. I've always dug the centaur concept, mythologically they're groovy creatures. So I especially like they way you've drawn her with a more equine feel. The tuft of hair that goes down her back, for starters. And the horse anatomy in general is spiffy!!

I got a lot of flak about the weird foreshortening on the horse portion, actually. It's old though. Hopefully, if I try my hand at horse anatomy again, I'll do a better job of it...

Maybe I could even get it right with a multiply or saturation layer, to push it back a bit more...

Completely and utterly rocks. Adore first of all the coloring job. The coloring is what made my eyes go to this- -- The taur body is extremely good -- Horses in any and all angles can be very tricky to draw and you pulled it off very nicely.

She is absolutely gorgeous and it's so clear that you've improoved a million times over since then. I can't get over the graceful detail in her pose. Wonderful colors and I LOVE that background. The textures in the sky are just so much fun to look at. I love your work so much, hon. Beautiful piece. :+fav:

your art is exceptional! this is one of my favourites, the way you've drawn the hair is lovely, it sorta contrasts with the soft line of the body and the tattoo type things in the background (i love tatto things too)

please...

please, could you give me your talent? :)

I've decided the tattoo thing is some kind of neurosis that's taken over my brain lately. I'm hoping it'll pass. It just...takes to long. Ugh.

And no, I shan't. I'd be bereft without it. o.o

love the hair and facial features (especially in keeping with the angle...) - but would have "rounded" her torso curves just a bit. great colors!

ps - your elfwood gallery was one of the first I stumbled across 2 years ago in my search for "fantasy art" - so thanks for bein' an inspiration to gettin' me back in the drawing game!!

I had, originally. But I got to thinking about it. It made no sense for her to be curvy and soft, living the life she would, as a nomadic plains...person/herdaminal thing. So I toughened her up and cut back on uneccesary curvature ;)

I'm....touched. :) And glad I could be an inst\piration to ANYONE!

totally makes sense...but I guess I was thinking more towards the hips into the horse abdomen - just a bit o'flair to round here (the chest and arms would be more muscle - I agree with that 100%)

Sorry. It's just that usually, you see girls on this site, and they're amazingly beautiful. Or inflated.
It's just weird to see a girl (even half of one :P) that I would be frightened to mess with. Good on ya, for doing something original.
